Ahhh, I have so much love for this lady. I've had the absolute pleasure of being coached by her myself for the past 3 months. Claire delivers value in abundance (2014 has seen her write and release 3 books!), along with a crazy-big side serve of fun and inspiration, though her eBooks, audios, workshops, coaching and regular blog posts on her online home, This Is Lifeblood. If ever you need inspiration to take bold action, Claire's your gal.
I can testify to the brilliance this woman brings to her client's lives. She has prompted a collision of excitement-inducing change in my life through pep talks, soulful and actionable advice, not to mention her generosity and understanding. So, I just had to share her with you! Dive in.
// The Big and Bountiful //
1. Share with us a short story of personal triumph (big or small) and what limiting beliefs you had to dismantle along the way.
Ooohhh quitting my job a few months ago to focus solely on my own business was a big triumph! I had a lot of fear around lack and ‘not having enough’, not only financially but also creatively; what if I ran out of ideas, clients AND money?
Being self-employed however, means fully backing yourself and believing in your dreams, abilities and message, so when I knew it as time to take the dive, the decision felt spacious and ripe with possibility.
And, as these things happen, I found my wings once I jumped! I’ve been incredibly supported since making that decision and those limiting beliefs turned out to be just that: simply beliefs, rather than truth.
2. What does it mean for you to live boldly from a place of love?
To bloody LOVE LIFE. Just love it. The wonderful times, the wobbly times, the exciting and inspiring times and the downright awful times. Truly, I just love living.
This doesn’t mean that life always feels joyous and easy - I found myself hysterically bawling in the shower yesterday morning in fact - but I can boldly say that I love myself and my life in those moments too; I can feel gratitude, acceptance and openness in those yucky spaces, which means I am whole. I am alive. I am here. And I can love that too.
And thus, the beautiful moments and richer, joy-soaked and truly cherished.
3. What makes your heart sing and lights you up?
My first thoughts are: being with my man and our pup, spending time with my family and doing the work that I have the privilege to do in the world; you know, coaching has undoubtedly changed my life. I always feel so inspired and invigorated when I see the positive changes that my clients are implementing and experiencing.
Add to that: the ocean, moving (and stretching) my body, fresh fruit and veggies, dancing, sex, writing and handstands on the grass.
4. What grinds your gears or leaves you less than lukewarm? (Everyone has something)
Obsessive negativity, particularly on social media. Yep (as mentioned above), we all have sucky days. And openly talking about our struggles is both healing and vital to the soul.
However, the constant and seemingly compulsive desire to complain online (and in ‘real life’), often leaves me feeling lukewarm… And very quickly hitting the ‘unfollow’ button!
5. What identities have you shed recently?
SO MANY. Constantly. And will continue to…
Here goes: The Party Girl, The Health Coach (this was a big one), The Yogini, The Extrovert, The Controlling Older Sister, The Independent Single Girl, She Who Is Always In Debt And Can’t Afford Anything.
…I think they’re the most recent :)
6. You are well known for your refreshingly down-to-earth approach to health. Where do cheese, wine and chocolate come into your formula for radiance?
You know, I believe that life is to be enjoyed not endured; unfortunately, I see so many women who are slaves to a rigid way of eating and exercising in an effort to find health, happiness and radiance.
The thing is, I know that eating vitality-packed whole foods and moving my body everyday feels damn good. I know that consistent, nourishing self care unlocks the key to creativity and connection and that if I fill my body with toxins, I feel like crap.
But I also realise that radiance is about freedom and free-flowing energy, so words like ‘deprivation’ and ‘diet’ simply don’t align.
So (if like me), you love a glass of celebratory wine, some dark chocolate and a delicious slice of brie, then by all means, enjoy. And as Geneen Roth would say: ‘eat with enjoyment, gusto and pleasure!’ Without the guilt.
7. Festive question: You recently alluded to the role that being Christian has played in your journey to radiance. How does your love of oracle cards, chakras and manifestation fit alongside your Christian faith?
A beautiful question babe. So I was brought up in a Christian home and my faith has shaped the way I perceive the world; how I behave, what I believe.
When I was younger, I attended Church every week and it’s been an interesting journey over the past decade or so, as I’ve veered away from that practice (feeling somewhat disillusioned), but deeper into my faith.
Through experimentation and experience, I have softened some of my beliefs, but strengthened others. I’m less concerned with ‘converting’ everyone in my life (oh, that was a fun time…) and more devoted to gratitude, compassion and truth.
I remember being warned off from using oracle cards and even yoga from members of my church (absolutely no judgment there), but a curious mind and heart led me to play with chakras and crystals and meditation and angel cards… And whattaya know, for me, it turns out that these rituals and blessings actually align with - and deepen - my spiritual practice.
Meditation for me, is prayer. Angel cards feel like guidance, support and a loving nudge in the right direction. When I read ‘The Universe’, I read ‘God’. I mean, crystals are precious gifts from the earth! What is more Godly than that? I certainly do not claim to have the answers when it comes to faith (who does?), but in my experience, curiosity has been a saving grace.
// & Other Pieces of the Puzzle //
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” - Maryanne Williamson
Current fascination: that we already are what we desire. True story.
I seek nourishment through… whole foods and belly laughs.
I seek expression through… writing, sharing… Decorating my house.
I seek growth through… presence.
